Project finished

I finally finished the baby blanket.  Sorry to say I did not get a picture of it.  I got to meet baby Olivia however, and she is just beautiful!

I have a couple of shawls in progress that I need to get finished.  I have started working on one of them again.  I really want to get it finished so I can do other projects.  I always seem to have several unfinished objects  tucked in drawers and cabinets.  I love the feel of natural fiber in my hands and creating things that I hope the recipients will cherish and enjoy.

I challenge you to finished an unfinished object this fall.  I am hoping to finish the one I am working on soon.  Happy knitting, crocheting, or crafting!

Tiny Bird

I love a good storm!  And we had a good one last night.  I sat on the front porch with my husband and watched the trees bend with the wind and the leaves dance through the air.  And then, almost right in front of me, a little bird flapping his wings for all he was worth, but not getting anywhere against the wind.  After a few short seconds of watching him a gust of wind lifted him up, and over the house he disappeared.

I marveled at his courage and determination, this tiny creature fighting against the elements.  Do you sometimes feel like that little bird?  I know I do.  Are we not told in the scriptures that the Lord watches over even the tiny sparrow?  Is he not watching over us too?  We must have courage and determination to keep flapping our wings, and faith that the Lord will watch over us and lift us up and over whatever obstacle is in our way.

I wish you well with your flying!  And may the Lord lift you up.

As I read my favorite blogs I often wonder how these very talented ladies do everything that they do.  They write books, create knitting patterns, spin beautiful yarn, plant gardens, raise families, and on and on.  I am envious of their many accomplishments.  My list of things I want to do just grows longer.  I think of all the reasons (excuses really) I don't work on my list.  But I think at the top of the reason list is I am afraid.  Afraid to make the commitment of time and resources some of the things on my list require.  I just need to jump in with both feet and start running.  Or at least walking.

Have any of you been afraid to start something?  To make that commitment?  How did you overcome your fear, or whatever was holding you back?

Food for thought, mostly for myself.  If you feel like sharing your experience please do so.  Hopefully your experiences and stories will help me overcome my fears (excuses).

Cooler weather today, what a wonderful blessing.

I started crocheting a baby blanket for a co-worker this evening.  After working with natural fibers, somehow acrylic just doesn't feel right.  Anyway, she is due in two weeks.  Do you think I can get the blanket finished?  I hope so.

I also went out and brushed the horses.  My Warrior is such a sweet spirit.  My husband's Pepper is sweet too.  She has learned that I will kill the horse flies that land on her so she will almost knock me down to let me know she needs help.  I am so glad it has cooled off, they are much more comfortable this evening.

Have I mentioned that it is hot?  We do not have AC at our house, need I say more.  I have not been doing much cooking these days.  Our local pizza shop/gas station has become our preferred place to get our dinner.
Not much is getting accomplished on the spinning and knitting front either.  It is just too hot to have a lap full of wool.
I hope you are finding ways to stay cool.
