Fleeting thoughts....

Oh, the thoughts that fleetingly crossed my mind these past couple of weeks.  Things like how can another year be coming to a close already to oh my goodness, I haven't even started Christmas shopping.  However, there have been two recurring thoughts in this jumble in my mind.  One is how can I live closer to my Savior and the other is how much I love my family.

There is nothing sweeter than knowing if I do my best to follow in my Savior's footsteps I can be with my family forever.  What a blessing and comfort this knowledge is in such uncertain times.

As we prepare to celebrate the our Savior's birth this season may we recognize ways we can serve our family and friends.  As we serve others we are in turn serving Him.

"And the King shall say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me."  Matthew 25:40

It was November two years ago that I last shared my thoughts, experiences, and projects with you.  The whispers in my heart tells me it is time to return.

Much has happened in the last two years and some of those events will probably be shared in the future.  But for now I just want to share with you what I am thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for Jesus Christ and all the blessings He has given me.

What are you thankful for?

Today I am thankful I know my Savior, Jesus Christ.  I have so many blessings in my life I can not begin to count them.  May the Savior find a place in your heart this holiday season.

Where did the time go?

Here it is almost Thanksgiving!  What happened to October?  I keeping thinking I am so busy but I look around to see what I have been busy doing and there is no evidence of business.

I am knitting a shawl and a scarf.  I hope to have the scarf finished in a few days.  Pictures will be posted on Ravelry.  I am anxious to get the shawl finished too but I needed a break from the lace knitting.  There is also some dyed fiber in my basket that is waiting to be spun, not to mention a trunk full of fiber I have accumulated.

Enough of things that I need or want to do.  This is the Lord's day and I learned some very important points today at church.  One is I need to be closer to Him and to do that I need to read my scriptures every day.  Not just sometimes, but every day.  If I get to know Him then I will be able to become like Him, not just wish for it.  It will take effort on my part.  He is doing his part, has done his part, now it is my turn.  My sister challenged me this summer to read The Book of Mormon by the end of the year.  I started out but did not get very far.  I don't know if I will finish by the end of the year but I am going to start reading daily again.  After all this is a time of taking stock of all our blessing and what better way to give thanks than by spending time partaking of His words.

Today I am thankful for Jesus Christ and the blessing he so freely gives me.
What are you thankful for?

Fall

I love fall!  All the beautiful colors and feeling the crisp air.  I like to hear the crunch of leaves as I walk through the yard.  Pumpkins, apples, fire for roasting hot dogs, fresh baked pumpkin bread, the company of family and friends.  I certainly enjoy the blessings of fall.

I picked up walnuts out of the yard today, two five gallon buckets full.  I am guessing I can pick up four more buckets, however I am not sure I want to pick that many walnuts.  My sister has started collecting walnuts also, and she has plans to buy a wonderful walnut cracker she says will make the job of harvesting walnuts easier.  Hm mm, I am thinking maybe we should work on this task together.

I am about halfway finished with a shawl I started knitting in the spring.  I am anxious to get it finished so I can make another one, or maybe some Christmas gifts.  The Christmas gifts will have to be ones that can be completed quickly though, as usual I have too many irons in the fire.  I am also taking a college class, which so far I am enjoyng.  My first test week was this week, hopefully I passed.

How fast time flies!  I want to savor each and every day that Heavenly Father gives me.  May you each find time to count your blessings and give thank for the gifts we are given.
